In 43 AD, the Romans launched a massive attack on Britannia, which would later be known as the British Empire. Queen Boudicca, a heroine, stepped forward in times of national crisis and formed an alliance with the Roman consul Cassius, encouraging Cassius to rebel against the Roman Emperor Claudius I. In the play, the Roman army vowed to completely destroy the “Celtic Heart” of Britannia, a mysterious land controlled by brave female warriors and powerful druids. According to legend, these druids can gather the powerful forces of the underworld to defeat any enemy who dares to invade. Kelly Reilly plays Kerra and Zo Wanamaker plays Antedia, who are sworn enemies. In the face of foreign invasion, they must put aside their personal grudges and prejudices and work together to resist the Roman legions led by the outstanding Roman general Aulus Plautius (played by David Morrissey).
